Day 1: Sendai / Matushima / Yamagata / Zao Onsen
Take a train from Sendai to Matsushima. Visit GoDaido Temple: Godaido Temple, overlooking Matsushima Bay, Godaido is a must-see symbol of Matsushima. It was first founded in 807. The building we see today was reconstructed by Date Masamune in 1604. It is named for the five Buddhas of wisdom housed within. The Buddhas inside Godaido are only shown during a special ceremony once every 33 years.
Take a Matsushima Boat Cruise (Adult 1,500 yen / Child 750 yen). This pleasure boat allows you to enjoy Matsushima, one of the Three Views of Japan, from within the bay. On the regular sightseeing course around Shiogama Bay, see the famous islands depicted on picture post-cards.
Head to Yamagata for your overnight stay.
Accommodation: Zao Onsen or similar
Day 2: Zao Onsen / Zao Snow Monster / Ginza Onsen
See Zao Snow Monsters (Juhyo) on Ropeway (Adult 2,800 yen / Child 1,400 yen). The frost covered trees, called "Juhyo," are labeled the "Snow Monsters." Zao is known throughout the world as a land where, among the many such places in Japan, especially large and beautiful juyho can be viewed.
In the afternoon, take a bus to Takaya and transfer by train to Amarume. Visit Sankyo Warehouses and enjoy shopping at the city centre.

Day 3: Ginza Onsen / Furukuchi / Amarume / Sakata
Head to Oishia by shuttle bus and transfer by train to Furukuchi. Enjoy Mogami River boat ride in Furukuchi (Adult 2,450 yen / Child 1,230 yen). This boat ride is a fun activity that takes you down Yamagata Prefecture’s Mogami River on a boat. The boat ride allows you to enjoy the majestic landscape of the Mogami River area while you listen to your boatman singing songs.

Day 4: Sakunami - Nikka Whisky Factory - Flight Home
Transfer by train to airport for your flight back home.
